It was designed to be used in shallow waters where other sailing ships could not go. The schooner was used by the United States Navy during the American Revolution. In fact, it was the schooner that helped to win the battle of Yorktown.
Another type of sailing ship that developed during the 19th century was the “whaler”. These ships were used to hunt whales. Whaling was a very profitable business at the time and many ships were built to do this.
Today, there are many different types of sailing vessels that are available. Many of these are used for recreational purposes. There are also some that are used for commercial purposes.
